Europe Lake is a scenic, clear water lake that is moderately developed and a large portion borders Newport State Park. This shallow (maximum depth approximately 12 feet). Europe Lake is the most secluded and pristine of all of Door County's inland lakes. Because a good majority of the lake's southern shore is owned by the State, there are few homes on the lake. Europe lake is great for canoes and kayaks. There is one boat launch located at the end of Europe Lake Road. The vegetation goes all the way to the shore and the lake's bottom is gravel. Europe Lake freezes during the winter and is wonderful for ice boating, ice skating, and cross country skiing.
